Missing person? Now what? Follow our steps
Sarea: initiated by the police, together with civilians.

Step 2: Contact the police

If the person still hasn’t been found after the first actions, you could contact the police. Perhaps you may decide to immediately file an official missing persons report. Below you can read what information the police will require. If you prefer to continue your search further before filing an official report, skip this step for the time being.

Report a person missing to the police

You can contact the police to discuss the situation, but also to officially report a person missing.

Each year the police receive many reports of missing persons. To ensure that every missing persons report is handled in the best way, you need to give the police all the information that may be relevant. After making the report, it is advisable to ask for the name of a contact at the police.

Information in your report

Always tell the whole story and be honest, even if there are problems – financial, psychological or drugs-related, for example. Do not hold back any information. This could lead to unnecessary delays and to an inaccurate assessment of the gravity of the situation.

The form below gives an idea of what information you need to give to the police. Think about this beforehand and fill in the form as completely as possible. This will save precious time when you make the report at the police station.
